Robin Trower Orlando Concert reviews
Rod Still Rocks
Rod Stewart still performs with enthusiasm and energy, presenting the majority of his greatest hits for an audience that remained on its feet for most of the performance and sang along with gusto. The evening moved smoothly along, with the crowd engaged throughout. His musicians, especially guitarists, drummers, and the "Light Bulbs," were skilled and talented, making their solo performances enjoyable and more than just time fillers for Rod's off-stage moments. As always, Rod's dancing adds to the mood of fun and spontaneity I associate with his concerts. Would I have liked one more set? Absolutely! Rod added updates and twists to several favorites without losing the feeling his fans associate with those tunes. If I had any issues, it was with the sound system, which at times allowed the musicians to overwhelm Rod's voice and even made it difficult to hear him clearly when he was talking with the audience. Bottom line: Sitting on the hill on a very pleasant evening for late July in Houston, listening to a great performer live, is a bargain for the price we paid. I wouldn't have missed it and am delighted that I didn't.
